Amelia Island

As much as we would have loved to do an out of country "before the baby vacay" ---as we've been calling it-- we ended up at Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island in Florida... since flying and leaving the states at this point in my pregnancy were not exactly safe options. (though our "travel fever" is not out of our systems)

it's always refreshing to be somewhere new, with very few plans-- aside from relaxing!
Amelia Island is home to several B&B's and a quaint historic downtown. We stayed at the Florida House Inn-- which opened in 1857, serving as a boarding house for railroad workers. During the Civil War, the area was seized by the North and served as a boarding house for officers. Some famous people have stayed and enjoyed the inn including General Ulysses S. Grant,  The Carnegies, The Rockefellers, and Henry Ford..
and now the Bubalos + baby have stayed here too!
no real belly shot this week... but my appointment went really well. baby's heartbeat was nice and strong around 140, down from his usual 150's, and I got a quick peak at his head, spine, and little beating heart, when they did a quick ultrasound to check his position. it was the first viewing of little man since 20 weeks.. and though the pictures weren't super clear on the little machine the doc used, it was nice to see him! I would love to do a 3d/4d scan to see his features in more detail, but he's too crowed in my belly for those photos now... we'll have to wait till his Birthday!!
We visited the beaches in Fort Clinch State Park.. which are very natural and undisturbed. This fishing pier was literally a mile long. It was overcast and pretty windy, but we left refreshed, sun burned, and toting several pretty shells (lots of lettered olives). It was suppose to be a great place to shark tooth hunt, unfortunately, I only found one. I really hoped Matt would find his first, but maybe next time.
